Joining the hit Samsung Tocco F480 original and Tocco Ultra Edition S8300 upgrade, the Tocco Lite is the junior member of the family.It has a stripped down set of features compared to its Tocco brethren, reflecting its Lite moniker and light-on-the-pocket price tag – initially selling for £80-£130 on pay as you go or free on contract deals. It works using a familiar Samsung Tocco TouchWiz touchscreen user interface, bringing with it on-screen widgets and finger tap-and-swipe control.Latest Samsung Tocco Lite deals at OmioBut the Tocco Lite doesn't have high-speed 3G mobile connectivity, relying instead on quad-band GPRS/EDGE mobile data.Nor is there Wi-Fi – something we've seen on higher-end touchscreen phones. Its camera, too, is a routine 3.2-megapixel, fixed focus, flashless snapper, rather than the 5- and 8-megapixel shooters of the Tocco and Tocco Ultra Edition.Although light on higher-end features, it has some decent functionality for a down-range touchscreen phone.It has a good-sized 3-inch screen for its touch-operated user interface, with a few dozen widget mini-applications to choose from, music and video player functions, and FM radio, plus a selection of online-based apps and social-networking options to work with.Of course, Samsung isn't the first mobile maker to slip a low-ender touchscreen into its line-up. One knock-on effect from the iPhone's blazing success has been folk looking for a taste of touchscreen further down-range.The LG Cookie – which is the Tocco Lite's obvious rival – and the modestly-equipped own-brand Orange Vegas have previously taken full touchscreen tech into sub-£100 territory. Samsung Wave S8500
Das Wave ist ein sehr gutes Handy. Optik und Verarbeitung sind auf hohem Niveau, das Gerät reagiert schnell, und die Ausstattung ist hervorragend. Ein paar merkwürdige Fehlermeldungen hier und da, eine noch nicht ganz durchgängige Bedienung oder nicht immer ganz logische Menüs sorgen hin und wieder für fragende Gesichtsausdrücke, aber unterm Strich überzeugt das S8500 - und gehört zu den besten Handys, die Samsung je gebaut hat. Noch dazu stimmt der Preis: Wir gehen davon aus, dass das Gerät schon bald für einen Euro mit Vertrag zu haben ist. Jetzt müssen die Koreaner nur noch eine kritische Masse an Entwicklern überzeugen, ihre Programme in den hauseigenen App-Store einzustellen.
Mit dem Wave S8500 legt Samsung die Messlatte im eigenen Haus ein gutes Stück höher: Dieses Handy ist die bisherige Glanzleistung der Koreaner. Das Bada-Betriebssystem sieht gut aus und funktioniert hervorragend; Ausstattung und Design sind auf höchstem Niveau. Noch dazu stimmt der Preis. Nun fehlt nur noch eine deutlich größere Auswahl an Apps.

Overall I really liked thebut I must admit that it was the Super AMOLED screen that did it for me. The whole BADA experience was quite good. Nothing revolutionary. Kind of a mixture of previous Samsung feature phones and a bit Android like.In terms of its competition I would say that thelies in the same group as the. Which is best? I would have to go for the Legend to be honest. It just does most things a little better apart from the screen and the HD video recording. Of course this is just my opinion. The Wave is now in store in many high street retailers so I would suggest popping in and having a play. That Super AMOLED screen may just make your mind up for you. It is truly wonderful.

Das Corby ist ein zweischneidiges Schwert. Es sieht gut und flippig aus und verfügt über hervorragende Multimediafunktionen. Aber es fehlt schlicht an UMTS und / oder WLAN, um ein wirklich konkurrenzfähiges Handy zu sein. Außerdem nervt die eigentlich innovative und einfach zu bedienende Oberfläche gelegentlich aufgrund des wenig reaktiven Touchscreens. In Anbetracht des günstigen Preises macht man beim Kauf dennoch nichts falsch - vorausgesetzt, man sucht keine mobile Surf- und Mail-Maschine.
Das Corby sieht attraktiv aus und bringt viele praktische Smartphone-Funktionen mit. Dazu gibt es eine gut bedienbare Touchscreen-Oberfläche und einen leistungsfähigen Musikplayer. Wer auf UMTS und WLAN verzichten kann, bekommt einen guten Begleiter für vergleichsweise wenig Geld.

First look at Samsung S3650 (Corby)
We were content with the S3650's reception quality, although it wasn't much different from other phones in this class. The ring tones volume was pretty average, and we even missed some calls when the phone was stuffed in a bag. The vibro alert was nothing to shout about either, as it hadn't changed at all, compared the S5600. The Corby has what it takes to become a best seller, but its fate hinges entirely on how soon Samsung will send its price through the floor. At launch it'll retail for 225 USD, which is around the upper limit for this particular phone, although Samsung might opt to sell it for the same money as the Star, in which case it'll become uncompetitive. As far as it direct competition goes, the only phone that comes to my mind is the Nokia 5230, but in all honesty the latter is a smartphone - some will see it as an advantage, while others won't pay attention to this fact at all. Given the Nokia 5230's price of 149 Euro, the Corby's current price tag seems somewhat inadequate. On the other hand, in Russia the Nokia 5230 will come boxed with Nokia Comes with Music service, which will boost its price tag all the way up to 260 Euro, allowing Samsun to keep the Corby's price on the current level until Q4 2009. Although in fact all they need to do is reach a 25 Euro gap in order to keep the Samsung S3650 afloat, which doesn't seem too difficult and Samsung will definitely cope with this task.

Samsung, like most of the major phone manufacturers, has occasionally been guilty of making phones that put style over substance, that look great but don't deliver what their catwalk looks promise. Fortunately, the Tocco doesn't quite fall into that category. It's certainly got the style thing sorted, following on from Samsung's other touch screen tasties like the Armani and the F490.It's a petite, minimalist, slimline slab with brushed metal back, shiny metal surround and sleek black plastic on the front, framing that large 2.8in touch screen.While the screen dominates the front (there are just call start/end and action keys below it, plus a small speaker and video call camera above it) the sides are equally sleek, broken only by slots for microSD memory cards (up to 8GB ones are supported) and charger/headphones, a volume rocker, camera shutter button and a screen lock button on top. Unusually, it comes with a choice of battery covers. There's the standard shiny one but there's also an odd leatherette affair that wraps itself over the front with a tiny hole for the loudspeaker. It's certainly useful for protecting the screen but since there's nothing to hold the flap in place, so it does tend to, erm, flap about. Fire it up by pressing any of the three hard keys on the front and the 262,000-colour screen springs into life with a riot of colourful icons.But these are no ordinary icons, oh no. For this is Samsung's TouchWiz user interface and these are 'widgets'. Widgets in this case are actually application icons which can be pulled out of a Mac-style dock that runs down the left-hand side of the screen.Place your thumb on one, then drag and drop it from the dock on to the screen and place it where you like. There are ten in all, including date, time, calendar, music, games, gallery, profiles and FM radio It's all very intuitive and easy, and there are a few nice 3D animations too, though we did find that the screen would occasionally lock up, requiring us to press one of the hard keys to get it going again. We also felt that with such a nice big screen they've missed a trick by not including a QWERTY keyboard, so you'll need to text using a virtual standard numeric keypad and T9. The 5-megapixel camera does a pretty good job of still snaps in good light. It's fairly quick to wake up by holding the shutter key (slightly under three seconds) and offers a good range of settings including multi-shot (up to 15 rapid-fire shots), anti-shake and face detection (which makes sure the central face in a photo is in focus) plus an LED flash.There are also a few fun options like mosaic shot, which stitches together several different pics into one, and smile detection, which tries to stop you taking a pic unless it can detect a smile, though it didn't seem terribly reliable to us.Pics were generally sharp with only some of the usual minor colour balance quibbles that are par for the course with cameraphones. Video, as is often the case, let the side down a little offering only a rather jerky QVGA (320x240 pixels) resolution. There is however a basic video editing suite which allows you to adjust the resolution of your flicks and add an additional soundtrack. The music player is a decent one, making good use of the touchscreen by allowing you to skip to part of a track by running your thumb along the progress bar.
