Blackberry Bold 97006 experts have reviewed the Blackberry Bold 9700, giving it an average score of 83 out of 100Empfehlung von Computer Base vom 2009-12-07 00:00:00.0BlackBerry Bold 9700Wer sich als Smartphone einen ultimativen Multimedia-Überflieger wünscht, könnte vom Bold 9700 enttäuscht werden. Empfehlung von PC Advisor vom 2010-01-07 00:00:00.0BlackBerry Bold 9700 reviewA slimmer, lighter Bold than the original model, we like the substitution of the trackball for the touchpad and think this BlackBerry line remains the most appealing that RIM offers. Time will tell whether qwerty keypad fans find the BlackBerry Bold 9700's shrunken keypad an issue, however. The BlackBerry Bold 9700 is a good-looking smartphone with a tremendous range of features. Highly recommended..The second-generation BlackBerry Bold 9700 is a slimmer, lighter Bold than the original model. We like the substitution of the trackball for the touchpad and think this BlackBerry line remains the most appealing that RIM offers. It retains the distinctive silver ?frets' between lines of keys, but the keypad area and, indeed, the screen, are smaller on the BlackBerry Bold 9700 than on the first Bold. |

Blackberry Curve 85208 experts have reviewed the Blackberry Curve 8520, giving it an average score of 75 out of 100 and a total of 1 test win/editor's choice awardEmpfehlung von Techradar vom 2009-09-23 00:00:00.0What Laptop Issue 129: Blackberry Curve 8520RIM's BlackBerry Curve 8520 is the cheapest QWERTY handset in the company's range, with a price tag £199 with an Orange pay-and-go SIM card, and is ideal for business users on a budget. It looks similar to existing BlackBerry Models – including the BlackBerry Curve 8900 – but, unlike most of its siblings, it doesn't feature a rollerball for navigation. You'll find a small optical pad below the display instead. It works like a mini touchpad and is simple and accurate to use. With no moving parts, it's also likely to prove more robust for long-term use. Unfortunately, build quality on the rest of the handset leaves much to be desired – the main difference from more expensive models being the omission of a metal backplate. In its place, you'll find a glossy plastic cover, which is flimsy and feels quite cheap. On the plus side, its compact form factor means this handset slips easily into even the smallest pockets. Matt, soft-touch plastics around the side are also pleasing – as are the media buttons on the top of the handset. A set of unmarked buttons offer control for volume settings and the camera, along with a button to activate voice control. They're integrated into the side of the device and made out of the same material, which is a sensible choice, as it leaves no chance of dirt getting under the buttons. The main navigation, call and end keys sit flush with the screen, with a glossy finish that's a magnet for fingerprints and scratches. The QWERTY keypad that sits below it offers excellent usability. It's not the largest keyboard we've seen, but it's easy to adjust to and the keys are responsive and firmly attached. The 2.6-inch screen is every bit as good as most other BlackBerrys, with vivid and bright colours. The 320 x 240-pixel resolution isn't the sharpest, but images remain crisp and easy on the eye. The BlackBerry OS is still as intuitive as ever, with large, clearly labelled icons on the menu. A set of shortcut icons sit on the home screen, with full accessibility to other functions offered by pressing the button to the left of the optical pad. This handset excels when it comes to email use, with push email support delivering your mail instantly. Setting up your account is a simple matter of typing in your email address and password. Highly responsive We found the handset responded quickly to our inputs, with a 512MHz processor moving things along nicely and with little lag. The 256MB of RAM offers minimal storage space, although a microSD slot is in place for adding further memory, with cards of up to 16GB supported. Connectivity is reasonable for an entrylevel phone – there's no 3G/HSDPA, but you will find Wi-Fi built in. Unfortunately, GPS has been left out to keep costs down, so you won't be able to use the BlackBerry as a satellite navigation device. Overall, the Curve 8520 is a nice little handset. It's a shame that some of the materials used aren't of a higher standard, but it offers good usability and a cheap entry point into RIM's impressive BlackBerry range.Search for the best BlackBerry Curve 8520 deals at OmioFollow TechRadar Reviews on Twitter: http://twitter.com/techradarreviewEmpfehlung von Tracy and Matt vom 2009-09-17 00:00:00.0Blackberry Curve 8520 ReviewThe Blackberry 8520 is without doubt a decent device. I think it will have a limited market though as it is lacking a few features compared to the Curve 8900, however the new trackpad may just swing it for some people.I'm sure that the network providers that release it as a PAYG handset will do relatively well with sales but that will obviously be dependant on price. In this review I have covered the main features/selling points of the device but if you have any questions please feel free to ask using the forum. Blackberry Bold 900012 experts have reviewed the Blackberry Bold 9000, giving it an average score of 82 out of 100 and a total of 2 test wins/editor's choice awardsEmpfehlung von cnet.de vomBlackberry Bold 9000Offensichtlich hat Research in Motion den Markt für Consumer-Smartphones nun verstanden. Empfehlung von Techradar vom 2009-03-27 00:00:00.0Total Mobile: Blackberry Bold 9000With its large screen, fast internet connection – using both Wi-Fi and HSDPA - camera, sophisticated media player, GPS and more, the Blackberry Bold would seem to fit the profile of an iPhone challenger, but such talk is largely irrelevant – the two are aimed at different markets, and while the iPhone might be an excellent entertainment station, the Bold is the one that means business. It makes business look good though – all seriously stylish black and chrome with a leather-look textured back that should stop it slipping off those City boardroom tables (which seem a touch shaky these days). Around the sides are essential items including volume rocker, camera shutter button, USB port, MicroSD memory card slot, 3.5mm headphone jack, and voice dialling button.Comfortable layout At 66mm it takes a walk on the wide side, though of course this is necessary to accommodate the QWERTY keyboard. Fortunately it makes up for this by being just 15mm thin and weighing 136g, so it doesn't feel like a brick in your pocket. The screen is a more detailed than average half-VGA (480x320 pixels) 65,000 colours display, which is bright, clear and easy to read - which let's face it, is what the message-centric Blackberry series is all about.Like the best business phones, the Bold is designed to help you work quickly and efficiently, with a minimum of fuss. The casual simplicity of the QWERTY keyboard conceals the thousands of man-hours of R&D that must have gone into this clever design. The keys are well spaced and slightly angled so they're easy to find with your thumbs. All the main symbols and punctuation marks are up there at the front, available with a touch of the 'alt' button, and there's a separate button for capital letters at each side. Above the keyboard are buttons for call start and end, menu and return surrounding Blackberry's rather lovely trackball, which is a very intuitive and efficient way of both scrolling through menus and navigating web pages.Speedy messaging The messaging, as you'd expect, is made easy and painless, with quick access to email accounts, and you can have your email pushed to the device as soon as it hits your inbox. You can also create your own Word, Excel and PowerPoint attachments with Documents To Go for BlackBerry.Moving online with the fast 3.6Mbps HSDPA 3G connection, or with broadband via Wi-Fi, isn't as flash as the experience delivered by the iPhone for instance, but it works fine. The trackball is great for nipping around web pages and you can zoom in on text with the tap of a thumb. Menu options include web feeds, bookmarks and previous pages so it has everything you need to make quick, efficient use of the web while you're on the move.Limited cameraThere's a 2-megapixel camera on board which does a decent enough job, but you can't help feeling it's a bit underpowered compared to some other smartphones which cost less than this. One point in its favour though is that it's very quick to access – it's up and running in less than two seconds after pressing the shutter button on the side, which makes it great for quick snaps. Picture quality is fair if not exceptional for this grade of camera, and there are a few limited editing options as well as geotagging (positioning data embedded in image files so you can see where they've been takenon a map), and the option to upload your pics directly to your Facebook profile.Empfehlung von Mobileburn vom 2008-11-20 00:00:00.0Review: Review of the BlackBerry Bold 9000It's bigger, badder, and bolder than any previous QWERTY keyboard equipped BlackBerry. The new Bold 9000 has the looks and the guts to take on the business world - and still be fun while doing so. |

Blackberry Storm 95009 experts have reviewed the Blackberry Storm 9500, giving it an average score of 72 out of 100Empfehlung von Computer Bild vom 2009-02-15 00:00:00.0RIM Blackberry Storm 9500Test: HandyRIM Blackberry Storm 9500Mit dem Storm 9500 verkauft Vodafone das erste Blackberry-Handy, das sich per Fingerdruck aufs Display bedienen lässt. Zum BeitragEmpfehlung von Techradar vom 2009-03-31 00:00:00.0TechRadar: Blackberry Storm 9500Rumour has it that the BlackBerry Storm concept was first spawned after Vodafone lost out to O2 in the iPhone bragging rights. But can its purpose-built credentials amount to the first bona fide touchscreen challenger to the Apple' device? Possibly. 'ClickThrough' touchscreenRIM has traditionally held a rather dim view on touchscreen mobiles. It's no surprise, then, that the company's first outing into the world of touchy-feely handsets holds something completely different in store – a fully 'clickable' screen. In effect, the whopping 3.25in screen is actually one giant button enabling users to genuinely feel the screen move downwards when an icon or key is pressed. Put your finger gently on one of the tiled menu icons and it will flash blue, with a pop-up letting you know what action the key controls; press down fully and you activate the function. When it comes to tapping out emails and texts, the Storm attempts to be all things to all men. Hold the handset in portrait mode and you're presented with RIM's compressed SureType keypad layout – or, if you prefer, switch to old-school Multitap input; flip to landscape and the layout automatically switches to full QWERTY courtesy of an accelerometer. The full keypad is fairly sizable, which limits the amount of message text you can see – but you can't have your QWERTY cake and eat it. Unlike the iPhone, it does support copy and paste. Just click the beginning and end points of the text, press the Menu key and select Copy and repeat for Paste. Easy. So, with a touchscreen handset living and dying by its finger-friendliness, how does the Storm measure up? Like anything, it's a case of getting used to it. Spend a bit of quality time with the Storm and you'll soon eradicate those emails that display the same grasp of spelling as your four-year-old nephew. But many – especially the less dextrous – will find there's no substitute for old-fashioned buttons.Responsiveness can also be a big issue, with the menu overly sluggish at times. More infuriating is the slowness of the accelerometer, and although the angle at which it is activated can be adjusted, the speed of response remains unchanged – a major hindrance to the handset's ease of use.Communication kingRIM may have given the Storm an alluring facelift, but communication is still at its core. Email is – as you would expect – dealt with adeptly. In addition to the usual outstanding Enterprise functionality it's now even easier for the less business-inclined to set up personal accounts simply by entering a username and password. Inboxes can be kept separate, with push email instantly alerting you to new messages in each account. Document viewing and editing is seamless using DataViz's Documents To Go, so email attachments can be dealt with fluidly. There's also RIM's usual set of calendar and address book functions, which can be synced to your PC using the accompanying BlackBerry Desktop Software.BlackBerry Application CentreBut RIM is determined to prove the Storm isn't just for suits, and the inclusion of a raft of Instant Messaging apps for download as well as a Facebook and Flickr apps will add to its zeitgeist appeal. All of these are available to download free from the Vodafone-hosted Application Centre, which also offers apps like YouTube and Google Maps. These will be joined by many more next year when RIM launches its own Application Storefront in March.Empfehlung von Tracy and Matt vom 2009-03-29 00:00:00.0Blackberry Storm 9500 ReviewThe Blackberry Storm 9500 was a strange device to review! I seem to have had many positive points written out, yet if I'm honest, I just didn't seem to like it!Just seemed a bit to bulky for me. It sometimes seemed a bit sluggish in its performance and I although I got used to the touchscreen QWERTY keyboard I just couldn't type as fast as I could on actual buttons for making so many mistakes! The Storm 9500 definitely looks great and the screen quality is brilliant. The SurePress screen is a brilliant idea but you'll either love it or hate it. Unfortunately it's not my cup of tea.No WIFI. I missed it. But, that's personal preference I guess. Just as wellnetwork coverage didn't let me down. There are many people out there who say that the Storm 9500 is a huge competitor to the IPhone. You'll just have to see for yourself!Empfehlung von Mobile Choice vom 2008-12-04 00:00:00.0BlackBerry Storm 9500 reviewVerdict If it had Wi-Fi, this would have been a five-star phone. |

Blackberry Pearl 82206 experts have reviewed the Blackberry Pearl 8220, giving it an average score of 72 out of 100Empfehlung von Mobile Choice vom 2009-01-10 00:00:00.0Blackberry Pearl Flip 8220 ReviewThe Pearl Flip 8220 is a reasonably solid smartphone but lacks some important features like 3G and GPS. We are not sure it really lives up to RIM’s usual high standards.Empfehlung von Techradar vom 2008-12-11 00:00:00.0Total Mobile: Blackberry Pearl Flip 8220A clamshell BlackBerry? What will those clever folks at RIM think of next? Actually, the only surprise about the first BlackBerry clamshell is that it took so long coming. The Pearl series has been RIM's attempt to break the BlackBerry out of the boardroom ghetto and into the pockets and handbags of people who don't necessarily need them for work. It was only a matter of time before they moved into the flip form factor.Chic styling Eschewing the bright and populist style of previous Pearls, the Flip goes for a sober, but not boring, gloss black (or red), which manages the trick of looking both chic and serious. There's a 27x34mm (128 x 160 pixels) outer screen which is almost invisible when in repose, but when lit displays a rather macho looking analogue clock with date, plus battery, signal, message and caller information. Above it is the 2-megapixel camera lens surrounded by LED photo light and alert light, which helps with the symmetry.Around the sides are two programmable 'convenience keys' plus volume buttons, microSD card slot (there's no card supplied but it will hold up to 16GB to complement the 128MB of onboard memory), USB charging port, 3.5mm headphone jack and a sound mute button (handy if you do happen to find yourself in a board meeting, and also for cutting the music player temporarily).Large keysFlip it open and the keyboard is immediately obvious as the prince of the Pearls. While its cousins make do with rather fiddly, small buttons, the Flip's are large and very easy to use, especially for texting or emailing. The keys are laid out in QWERTY fashion with two letters per key, as is the BlackBerry SureType way, and which can take a bit of getting used to if you're not already a BlackBerry convert. But after a few minutes you'll be texting away like a pro, either in multitap or predictive mode. The 240x320 pixel screen is sharp and reasonably detailed, doing a good job of displaying the pics from the 2-megapixel camera. It's certainly not in the front running for phone-borne cameras, but as with most things about this phone, it makes the best of what it has. Resolution may be only up to 1600x1200 but you can access the camera in less than two seconds and you can have a snap taken in less than four – just about as fast as you'll get on a cameraphone. Decent feature setPics are fine if you think of them as snaps rather than works of art – they could be sharper, colours could be a bit richer but they're fine if you're in a hurry. Video resolution isn't quite as good, but in good light, if movement isn't too fast, it holds up well. The Flip's music player is pretty decent too. It'll play all the main audio formats and includes a 12-setting graphic equaliser for optimising your sound. The supplied headphones are a cut above the usual cheapies (though they don't match those from Sony Ericsson, for example) but the 3.5mm headphone jack means an upgrade is as easy as could be.Handy connectivityThere's a choice of BlackBerry and Google Maps onboard for finding your way around, but no GPS, so it relies on cell site triangulation to pinpoint your position. Blackberry Storm 25 experts have reviewed the Blackberry Storm 2, giving it an average score of 76 out of 100Empfehlung von cnet.de vomBlackberry Storm 2Endlich verfügt auch der Touchscreen-Blackberry über WLAN. Empfehlung von CNET.co.uk vom 2009-11-17 00:00:00.0BlackBerry Storm 2The BlackBerry Storm 2 is an improvement on RIM's last attempt at a touchscreen smart phone. Its clicking touchscreen should also be helpful for those who find normal touchscreen phones too fiddly. But, without a keyboard, its email prowess is slightly compromised, and other touchscreen phones offer slicker user interfaces that are more fun to useAnyone who finds normal touchscreens too fiddly will appreciate the BlackBerry Storm 2's clicking version, which makes it easy to tap accurately. The usual range of BlackBerry features is also included, making this handset well worth a look for email fiends with a hankering for a touch-sensitive interface Empfehlung von digitaltrends.com vom 2009-11-10 00:00:00.0BlackBerry Storm 2 ReviewIn our Blackberry Storm 2 review, we find out if BlackBerry has improved upon the criticized first generation storm....Buy Now Highs: BlackBerry with a touchscreen, Large, bright display, WiFi connectivity, Long battery life, Pre-installed 16 GB microSD card includedLows: Annoying user interface, Slow Web connection, Below-average camera performance, Heavy, Poor voice quality at caller endShareBy: Stewart Wolpin Date: November 10, 2009In our Blackberry Storm 2 review, we find out if BlackBerry has improved upon the criticized first generation storm....IntroductionYes, the BlackBerry Storm 2 is a vast improvement over the original BlackBerry Storm smartphone. However, that isn?t saying much because, as befitted its name, the latter handset was pretty much a disaster. Worth noting, though: The Storm 2 does have a capacitive touchscreen with software that mimics tactile resistance, unlike the clunky mechanical screen found on its predecessor. Inside, the cell phone also has more features and memory. But even if the Storm 2 steps its game up, so what? If you?re looking for a new Verizon wireless smartphone and your company doesn?t require you to own a BlackBerry, you?re much better off with one of the far superior Motorola Droid phones.Features and DesignInside the BlackBerry Storm 2 is a vast array of by-now-familiar BlackBerry and Verizon features such as the V CAST subscription video and music service (with Rhapsody) and Verizon Navigation, which you also have to pay for. (By comparison, on the Motorola Droid for Verizon Wireless you get Google Maps Navigation for free.)A welcome addition to the Storm 2 is WiFi connectivity. The Storm 2 is also a dual-network world phone and comes with a SIM for GSM UMTS/HSPA 3G access outside the U.S.Cosmetically though, the handset is nearly identical to the Storm 1, with a 480×320 3.25-inch capacitive SurePress touchscreen. It?s a heavy phone, weighing in at 5.64oz, and, like the Motorola Droid, has no physical control or navigation buttons, just four touch buttons ? Send, Menu, Back and End ? located along the bottom of the touchscreen. The original BlackBerry Storm (Storm 1) had a clunky mechanical screen ? when you pressed it, the entire screen toggled. Thankfully, manufacturer RIM has replaced this silly arrangement with a software-controlled touchscreen. Now it just feels as if the screen is moving behind your touch. That said, however, touch presses on the new SurePress screen don?t feel as localized as haptic feedback, and the Storm 2?s screen still requires a firm push. First the selection lights in blue under a light touch, letting you know your firmer push will complete the touch transaction. But when navigating a tightly-packed menu or Web page, we often ended up accidentally activating an adjacent item. And, before realizing the wrong choice lit up, we?d often complete the SurePress push before we could stop ourselves. Worse, your violent pushes quickly smudge up the screen, resulting in an interface that?s messy and annoying in more ways than one.Like most BlackBerrys, the volume toggle is located on the right spine of the phone, with the camera activation/shutter release button above it and the 3.5mm headphone jack found below. On the left side is the voice dialing/command control, located just above the microUSB power/sync jack. Up top/left is the on/off toggle opposite a handy mute button. On the back is housed the 3.2MP digital camera lens; the microSD slot, with a 16 GB card pre-installed, is found under the battery cover.Multimedia FeaturesBlackBerry?s primary advantage over all Android smartphones is its Desktop Manager desktop client, which lets you easily sync PIM information and load photos, video and music. Better yet, the manager even enables you to load unprotected music files from iTunes. As for the Storm 2?s screen ratio, it?s an almost analog TV-like 4:3 rather than the widescreen 16:9 (and wider) models found on competing Motorola Droid phones. This squarer shape doesn?t work well for either widescreen videos, which get letterboxed, or Web pages ? you get wider text lines, but shorter pages.Sound and Call QualityVoices come through crisp and clear, despite a bit of echo and hollowness. However, those we called from the phone ourselves made frequent requests for us to repeat ourselves ? an unusual and odd sign since we?re loud talkers.12Next »Related PostsUAE Says BlackBerry Offshore Data Storag?RIM Responds to Apple?s Claim Blackberry?RIM Offers Deeper Look at BlackBerry OS?BlackBerry Bold 9650 Review Tags: BlackBerry ? For the record, I have never used a Blackberry. I went into Verizon to look at the Droid and ended up liking the Storm 2 much better. If you are planning on using the Droid keyboard, forget about it. It is horrible. The Storm 2 has multiple keyboard options and they work well. Why would anyone not choose a qwerty? Well..using it in the store convinced me that for typing in portrait mode, the SureType keyboard is very accurate and much easier to use than a qwerty. In landscape mode, the qwerty is very accurate. Email delivery and security is much better on the Storm.Droid has way more apps, but the Storm has something about it that is pulling me into the Berry world. I don't need 12,000 apps, I just need enough to do the things I want to do. Give me the added security of Blackberry along with it's growing consumer appeal.Don't just rely on this partial review. Take a look at the Storm 2 in person. Both Verizon sales guys I talked to were using the Storm 2 as their primary device and they loved it. I looked at the Motorola Droid and was unimpressed. It felt cheap and tinny. I liked the HTC Droid better. It also has a virtual keyboard that is accurate very easy to use. Still, I went with the Storm for a couple of reasons: First, I like the desktop sync. I don't like the idea of ?cloud? syncing and prefer to have sensitive information safely stored on my own computer. Secondly, the Droid and the Palm Pre don't have some of my favorite apps that I've been using for years. And while all those little ?there's an app for that? are cute and fun, there's so many, I hear my iPhone friends tell me they end up removing most of them because the, they clutter up the phone after a while. I still want a ?business phone,? but I also want a better, faster browser, email and multi-media. With the Storm I get what I want and it works well. Calls are sharp and clear and the email is flawless. My lone complaint? The menu icons are boring. But, there's an app for that. Travelling by car in a 200 mile radius I haven't experienced any worse coverage than I used to get with Verizon. I was really nervous about going to AT&T with all the bad press about coverage. But service at my home is far better with AT&T, so much so that I'm now considering dropping my land line and going cell-only. I could never do that with Verizon as the signal was too faint to be reliable. There are only a few dead spots with AT&T that I know of, one being on I-5 just North of the Terwiliger curves. Downtown Portland is perfect for me. My findings are the Droid has the best display , better accelerometer , better camera , more responsive touchscreen , fast navigation (where am I) whereas the BBStorm2 was better off being a World phone (biggest plus for me since I travel) , better exchange synchronization , probably better security . All the websites rank Droid higher than BB Storm2 ? check CNET etc ? any comments? Is the writer seriously saying that either of these phones are better at business tasks? They might be better at playing on the web and maybe at multimedia, but when it comes to real business tasks, the Blackberry has no peer. I guess the real question is, do you want to play or handle business. The new Droid ad (iPhone don't ? Droid does) is very cool and accurate as well. But the real truth is, when it comes to comparing either of them to the Blackberry's ability to do business stuff, both the iphone and the droid don't. I'd never call BBOS 5.0 perfect (although, the Verizon update for the Storm 1 puts a newer and better OS on the Storm 1 than comes with the Storm 2) but it made a huge improvement. When I say better, btw, I mean there are changes that are obvious from the 5.0 on the Storm 2 and the Storm 1, the Storm 1 version having a faster browser (MUCH faster), some screens that looked like the interface on the 4.x OS on the Storm 1 still look the same on the Storm 2, but have a new/better interface on the Storm 1 and so on. This has to be the most biased review I have ever read; are you being paid to promote this Droid phone?!Every review I have either read or watched has given a totally different slant on things to what you have given. I fell in love with this phone as soon as I saw it so I went out and bought one. The keyboard is nowhere near as bad or hard to use as what you make out and I can type on it just as fast as I can on my iPhone! If anybody is in any doubt, don't be. Don't read this review it isn't balanced. Reply By: PaulNovember 24, 2009 @ 3:12 PM46ppm11>What a load of garbage. (Can you say Kick-Back) I have owned the Storm 1 for a year now and I will be the first to admit it had problems. But with the new 5.0 software its like a totally different phone. I just gave the Storm 1 to my son and picked up the Storm-2 for myself. We had the opportunity to use the Motorola Droid the Storm 2 and the HTC Droid for a weekend and we all agreed if we were to get a droid phone it would be the HTC. The touch screen on the Motorola just did not respond well. From what I can see 2 weeks in the Droid isn't doing as well as most people thought and most are leaning towards the Storm 2 instead. That said I feel confident that just like they managed to improve the performance of the Storm-1 with the new software Rim will continue to improve these products (Including the Browser) over the next few months. Maybe you will be able to say the same for the Droid2. I've had mine for two days, and yeah it's a little frustrating to learn, but now that I've got the hang of it, typing is easier and I'm finding apps that I want and so on. I'm chalking some of the slow internet surfing to my internet being weird here at home and I know it's on my wifi and when it jumps to the 3G network it flies. I like it. I wish it didn't cost five bucks for good themes, and installing themes could be easier, but heck, I couldn't do that with my old phone, so that's an advantage. I think it's cool and I'd give it more than a couple of days of testing before passing judgment. There is a learning curve. If you need to forward an attachment, FORGET it, you can't. The phone echoes on the Droid and you can't end a call because the screen times out. If you want to play computer games and use the google map, it's great but the Droid is not for someone trying to make their job easier through technology. The update is planned for Dec 11th on the Droid but they claim they have not heard of any problems with the Droid and aren't saying what those updates will be. You also can't use voice activiation or speed dial with your bluetooth and this is a serious problem for me. I will never complain about Blackberry again? All future generation equipment should out perform its predecessor. In that regard a comparison between the BB1 and BB2 is futile. Go to your local verizon outlet and try the phone for yourself and form your own opinion. There's no evidence presented here?just 1 persons opinion. I own the Storm 2. The distinctive feature of this phone is its touch screen panel that operates with a realistic keypress feel. This significantly reduces the number of errors & is an essential attribute when using the e-mail & text functions. In my opinion this is a critical feature that touch screen panels lack. This review did not disclose what the standard measurement is for OS lag. So?I'm not certain how the rating of slow was determined. When I press the browser icon for the internet?'Google' loads in 2 secs. Web pages load in 15-20 secs. from that point. This phone also allows you to multi-task?answer calls, surf the web, navigation, etc. all at once if necessary. I've loaded 1427 songs from my i tunes library directly to the phone. This can be done with ease using the BB desktop manager software for your PC. The media function will also allow you to shoot video. Thise phone is a ture workhorse in that it comes equipped with on the go windows applications (powerpoint, excel, word). I've used these applications to edit documents & they are user friendly. This is a great feature for a traveling professional. This phone comes well equipped and offers a variety of features in a small package. The Verizon network is the most reliable carrier that I've had (I've had other carriers that I'll not mention). The buyer should purchase a handset based on their needs and consider fit, form, and function. I would recommend that they avoid comparisons that are baseless such as this one. Some of the calls I receive get dropped and I have annoyed customers calling back asking me what the problem is! I tell them it's my new Storm2!! I have to tell people who phone up to be quick as the link might get cut off any moment.Sometimes the touch screen freezes and I have to take the battery out and do a reboot. I tried connecting and updating the software and funnily it repeats the updation eventhough the software is already updated every time. I am stuck with a phone that I cannot do anything about as I bought it from a friend and probably there's no cover for that kind of purchase :( Reply By: JacobJanuary 21, 2010 @ 6:31 AM24pam1>Blackberry Storm2 has a lot of problems that aren't obvious in the beginning. I tried connecting and updating the software and funnily it repeats the updation eventhough the software is already updated every time. I am stuck with a phone that I cannot do anything about as I bought it from a friend and probably there's no cover for that kind of purchase :( Reply By: JacobJanuary 21, 2010 @ 9:35 AM48pam1>Previously I had owned a Blackberry 8820 which was a great phone with no issues. I sold that and bought the Storm2. I have learnt a lesson now. Never to buy a new model until it has been tested and tried in the market for at least 9 months. Reply By: Daren PeggMarch 22, 2010 @ 12:16 PM27ppm3>I have had to Storm one's and am waiting for my second Storm 2. The storm two the screen has issues and to frequently I am unable to end calls, or enter any of the functions. Pressing the screen just kicks me back to the main screen. Also jog the phone and the battery loses contact and the phone turns itself off. Shame because otherwise it could be great. Reply By: AnnaApril 7, 2010 @ 8:24 PM16ppm4>I agree to the Storm2 fans. I've only handled the Storm 1 once, but even then the typing was very easy. Some people are better at typing on touchphones than other's. It takes practice. As for complaints that I've seen on verizon's reviews such as, ?Battery dies easily?, ?Too hard to type?, it all depends on the phone ? and the person. Some people are more picky about how their phone handles things than other's. I'm a huge blackberry fan, I just upgraded and ordered the Storm2?I previously had the old Curve in pink. I think it depends on how negative or positive you are about the phone, and how picky, like I said. All phone's have issues, no matter which one you get. But anywho I can't wait to get the Storm 2! (: Reply By: rahulartsindiaApril 9, 2010 @ 12:01 PM02ppm4>I bought blackberry strom 2? having lots of problem? dont buy? worthless? Reply By: ryanApril 17, 2010 @ 9:10 AM11pam4>I actually like the blackberry storm 2. coming from an iphone personally i thought it was a downgrade but i had to switch to verizon. the touch screen could be better but i like the texting and the camera is nice. obviously the games are nice. but for the most part it's nice. I am thinking about switching back to at&t and just getting a unlocked cell phone. i bought 2 more storm 2's off of gsmauthority.com and one off of ebay. definately happy with my purchase. I give the blackberry storm 2, 7 out of 10 stars. Reply By: lorigillApril 22, 2010 @ 3:57 PM55ppm4>I have owned this phone for a few months now, I really don't get all these complaints & gripes. Dropped calls? Not a one. Touch screen freezing? Hasn't happened to me. The guy in the Verizon store has this phone, and absolutely loves it! Don't just rely on the NEGATIVITY! This is a great phone!! Reply By: varunMay 9, 2010 @ 11:54 PM19ppm5>I agree with all of your comments and in Nutshell, I would say Strom2 from BlackBerry is just a piece of garbage and nothing more.U can not access Wi-fi comfortably, When you log to wi-fi the browser gets disappeared, your calls get disconnected automatically, you will face so many problems that I just throw my set but realized it my money which I lost.Request every one not to buy strom2 its not worth.Varun Reply By: jonMay 17, 2010 @ 9:41 PM48ppm5>unlock blackberry storm: http://www.gsmunlocklabs.com/unlock-blackberry-... Reply By: DianeJuly 6, 2010 @ 6:33 PM16ppm7>This review is a little bit negative about the Blackberry Storm2. The Storm 2 is a wonderful smartphone and it's one of the best touchscreen mobiles ever. It's not the point that some people may not like a touchscreen phone! so what! the Storm 2 is still an awesome phone. Yeah, if u'd like a phone with a keyboard buy the Blackberry Bold or another model. But if u're going to buy a touchscreen, choose the Blackberry Storm2 because it's a superb phone with alot of amazing features :) Reply Add A Comment Cancel Reply Name (required) Email (will not be published) (required) If you do not have an account, click here to Register with Digital Trends or Login To Your Account. |
