Samsung ML-2525W Laser Printer Review
The Samsung ML-2525W is a stylish and compact printer that would look equally good in any office or home. It?s high print quality and handling of single sheets makes it a good all-around printer. The setup is easy enough for anyone to handle and Samsung boldly gives you the customer support telephone number in case you need help.. The availability of a high-capacity print cartridge keeps the cost of toner low. We only wish that the printer had auto-duplexing which would also help keep a lid on paper use and costs. If you use Internet Explorer, the AnyWeb Print software can also help you control the cost of consumables by printing only what you need. Samsung also has a free service called the S.T.A.R. program that helps you recycle toner cartridges without cost..

Samsung ML-2525W
Users with modest print-volume needs will appreciate this bare-bones monochrome laser's highly competitive price and speed.
Not everyone needs a multifunction printer that wraps a fax machine and a scanner into one big, bulky box on their desks. (Not everyone can afford one, either.) Most of the printers we see come through our labs these days, though, are all-in-one models. So where to look if all you need is a simple, inexpensive printer that just, well, prints? If you can settle for high-quality monochrome output and no color, Samsung's bare-bones ML-2525W laser is a bargain buy for home and small-office users with light printing needs. Its rock-bottom price of $149, respectable speed, and high-quality text and graphics output will entice those users if they're on a tight budget. The fact that it supports both Ethernet and Wi-Fi connectivity in addition to USB are pluses for the price, as well. However, its simple functionality and limited duty cycle make this strictly a low-volume machine that users with hefty printing needs won't want to consider. With a compact footprint (7.8x14.2x15.3 inches) and a modest design, the all-black Samsung ML-2525W will blend nicely into a home office. Rounded edges soften the printer?s otherwise nondescript look. The top rim, surrounding the paper-output tray, is glossy plastic with a subtle, fine-dotted texture that resists fingerprints but shows off dust rather plainly, while the tray itself is a matte plastic. (The sides and doors are matte, as well.) The power port is located around back, holding court near USB and Ethernet ports. A back door pops open to provide access to the paper path for clearing jams, and a front door allows for quick removal of the toner cartridge. The back and front doors flex and feel a bit flimsy (especially the front one), as do the swing-out paper-support flap, the top lid, and most of the moving plastic parts. However, since this printer is made for light duty, the bantamweight build isn?t a huge deal-breaker. The paper cassette pulls out easily, but it can be tough to push back into place when fully loaded. The cassette can hold up to 250 sheets, and the output tray can hold up to 80 sheets. (You also have the option of purchasing an extra 250-sheet tray.) That?s a decent paper capacity, one that speaks to use in a small-office environment. The cassette has sliders that enable it to hold paper as large as 8.5x14 inches and as small as 3x5 inches. Above it, a manual-feed slot on the front of the printer accepts single sheets up to legal size, in addition to standard and postcard-size media. One paper-handling minus: The lack of an auto-duplexing function is a strike against the ML-2525W, though not unexpected in a $149 printer. Also take note: If you're going to print more than a few pages, you need to fold out the paper-support flap on the output tray to keep paper from flying straight off the printer. Paper handling aside, the ML-2525W is otherwise a no-frills machine. On the exterior, you'll find no LCD status panel, nor any array of function buttons or input keys. All that adorn the lid are Wi-Fi-status and online/error lights (when off, they look misleadingly like little push-buttons), as well as demo-print, cancel, and power buttons. Matching the no-nonsense look, the installation process is simple and intuitive, especially since the ML-2525W comes fully assembled. Whichever interface you plan on using (Ethernet, USB, or Wi-Fi), you must first connect the printer to a networked computer via USB to install the printer software. The process is quick, following the step-by-step instructions on the driver. Once installed, the ML-2525W takes about a minute to connect to Wi-Fi, if desired. The driver software lets you tinker with items such as layout, default settings, paper type, graphics options, network settings, and maintenance. You also have the option of controlling more advanced settings, such as manual duplexing, text darkening, and toner saving. The driver also flashes low-supply and hardware alerts, offers troubleshooting advice, and performs (on request) tasks such as checking for updates or purchasing supplies. It does not, however, show a status bar on your screen showing the progress of your print job. (We would have appreciated that.) In our timing tests, we were surprised at how the ML-2525W was able to keep up with, and sometimes outpace, pricier laser printers. In Best mode, the ML-2525W completed our 20-page text-only test document in 57 seconds, at least 30 seconds faster than most of the laser printers we have recently tested. In Normal mode, the ML-2525W completed the same test in exactly the same time, which is more on par for laser printers we've tested in Normal mode. Comparatively, the $149.99 HP LaserJet Pro P1102w did the job in Best mode about 40 seconds slower, and about 20 seconds slower in Normal mode. Oddly, the ML-2525W printed our 10-page "mixed" test document (which comprises both text and graphics) in Best and Normal modes in the exactly same time: 30 seconds. Again, this time is about on par with most other lasers in Normal mode, but is significantly faster than most other models in Best mode. The fact that it took the same amount of time to print in both modes made us wonder if there would actually be any difference in quality between the modes. Upon viewing our results, we found our suspicions confirmed. Text quality was very good to excellent in both Normal and Best modes, with letters and characters looking dark and well-formed. We didn't see a huge difference between the two modes, although text did look ever-so-slightly darker in Best mode. Photos and graphics looked exactly the same between the two modes. Not that they look bad in either mode?you can get respectable proof-quality photos out of this model. But we were left to wonder what exactly the difference in quality is supposed to be between the two modes. The ML-2525W?s cost per page is on the high side at 4.2 cents when using Samsung's low-yield toner cartridge. (Those cartridges are rated for 1,500 pages at roughly $63 a cartridge.) Samsung's high-yield cartridge (rated at 2,500 pages) is a better value, at 3 cents per page based off a $75 toner unit. This cost per page is about average for printers in this class. We've also seen laser printers that cost way more than this one with the same costs per page, so if you're not looking at printing lots of pages every month, we would rate the ML-2525W as a good deal in this regard. (You shouldn't plan on this unit serving as a serious page churner spitting out five-figure totals each month; the maximum rated monthly duty cycle is a low 12,000 pages.) One thing to be aware of, however: The ML-2525W ships with a low-capacity "starter" cartridge that is only rated at 1,000 pages. You'll need to replace this first cartridge sooner than subsequent ones. (See how we calculate cost per page.) The Samsung ML-2525W, with its fast output speeds, simple interface, and bare-bones functionality, coupled with its attractive price, will satisfy for low-volume use. Just take into account?carefully?how much you actually print on a monthly basis. This model may be highly connectible, but it's not cut out to be an office workhorse.

Samsung ML-3310ND
If you need a printer to share between multiple users, Samsung's ML-3310ND could be a good option. It's an A4, black-and-white laser printer that offers both Ethernet and USB connectivity, so you can either connect it directly to a single PC or plug it into your network so that all the computers in your home can access it. The ML-3310ND costs around £160 online. Grey anatomy Decked out in a boring two-tone grey colour scheme, the ML-3310ND isn't much to look at. On the plus side, it should be equally at home in an office as in a large household. Measuring 366 by 368 by 253mm, it's small enough to sit on the edge of an office desk. The paper feeder at the base of the printer can hold up to 250 sheets of A4 paper. There's also an optional secondary tray that can hold 520 pages. Above the standard paper feeder, there's a flip-down multi-purpose 50-page tray that can also be used for manually feeding in envelopes. Prints are dropped into a recessed area at the top of the printer that can hold up to 150 sheets at one time. The ML-3310ND hooks up to your computer in two ways. The most straightforward option is to simply connect it directly to a single PC via USB. Alternatively, you can connect it directly into your network, which is what you're paying extra for with this model. Setting up the printer to work via USB couldn't be simpler. Just load the driver onto your computer, connect a USB cable, and the job's done. Hooking the ML-3310ND up to your network is slightly more difficult. The printer is configured to automatically grab its IP address from your network's DHCP server, but this means its address can change every time it's switched off and on, so you'll have to make your PC find it again. It's better to give the printer a fixed IP address, but setting this up is a rather convoluted process. Still, you only have to do it once. The ML-3310ND also has an HTTP server built in, so, once it's connected to your network, you can log onto it using your computer's Web browser to view the toner level and so on. Pretty much all of the printer's functions can be configured using the front panel. This consists of a two-line LCD display that you navigate around using a circular four-way pad. The menus are easy enough to follow, but navigation can be something of a pain, as there's little room available on the display. We found it was better to use the PC software that gets installed along with the printer driver -- it's much easier to use. Prints of darkness The print engine has a maximum resolution of 1,200x1,200 dpi, but it defaults to 600x600 dpi, which is good enough for most day-to-day documents. It can also handle two-sided printing, a feature accessed via the eco menu. Samsung quotes a print speed of 31 pages per minute. In our test, the ML-3310ND managed to print our ten-page black-text document in 35 seconds, and took 37 seconds to print ten copies of our graphics test page. Our ten-sheet presentation document took longer, at 41 seconds, but these are still very fast print speeds. The ML-3310ND's high-yield toner cartridge, which produces around 5,000 pages, costs £89.18 from Oyyy.co.uk at the time of writing. With costs of 0.7p added for each sheet of paper, this works out at a running cost of 2.48p per page, which is quite low. We've no complaints about the quality of the ML-3310ND's text output. Text looks dark and smooth, with crisp edges, giving a very professional finish to your pages. The graphics output is also very good, although, like many laser printers, we could see some slight banding in fills on grey bars in our test document. Conclusion The Samsung ML-3310ND is a fine printer. It produces good, clean text and graphics, offers fast print speeds and is fairly economical to run. Its control panel could be better, though, and setting it up on a network is likely to prove tricky for those of a less technical bent.
The Samsung ML-3310ND mono laser printer is a speedy performer, producing good prints at a low cost. The control panel is fiddly, though, and network configuration may bamboozle those of a less technical bent.
Empfehlung von TrustedReviews vom 2011-03-01 00:00:00.0
Samsung ML-3310ND
There are several classes of mono laser printer and this sits above personal, one-per-desk models and below full-blown workgroup machines. It's a compact machine, considering it offers duplex print as standard. Running costs are lower than most rivals and overall this machine is good value at the price.
A small, neat, mono laser, which is cheap to run and offers above average print. A bit slower in the real world than its specs suggest.

A good performance from a mono laser that's as cheap as it it is small

SamsungML-1865W
The Samsung ML-1865W is a discreet, ultra-compact, quiet and affordable printer that keeps all its promises. It's ideal for anyone looking for a super-small black and white laser printer. Don't pay too much attention to its score, which seems low since there's colour printing or copier and only a bog-standard cost per page. What's important here is the product's speed, print quality, accuracy, compact design and low price.
When the printer's warmed up and ready to go it can print a page in just four seconds. That's very fast! However, from standby you'll have to wait 20 seconds for the first page?which is about average.

Samsung ML-1865W
If you don't fancy a full-on, office-sized laser printer, but still need to be able to produce high-quality black and white documents, Samsung has you in its sights for the ML-1865W. It's one of the tinchiest laser printers on the market, so it's ideal for use in smaller home offices, and it can be bought online for around £80. Easy does it The 1865W is around half the size of a normal laser printer (at 341 by 224 by 184mm) and with its paper trays closed it can easily be stored away even on a small shelf. Decked out in glossy black, it also looks a little more stylish than your average office model. Despite the printer's small dimensions, its power supply is housed internally, so you don't end up with a huge power brick sitting on the floor next to it. The version we had in for review includes integrated Wi-Fi too, but there is also another version available that drops Wi-Fi and costs a little bit less as a result. Setting up the 1865W really is child's play as it comes with a 700-page starter cartridge pre-installed. When you do come to change the cartridge, you'll find the process very straightforward, because it simply lifts out of the belly of the machine. There's even a handle on it to make it easier to grip. A handle on the cartridge makes it easy to replace. On the software front, you get a CD with the printer driver plus an application called AnyWeb Print. The latter is a sort of digital scrapboard utility that lets you grab bits of text and images from around the Web and drag them into a scrap board in your browser where you can then re-arrange and edit them for printing later. On the wireless Installing the printer over either Wi-Fi or USB is pretty painless. You simply load up the driver first on your computer. Then if you're connecting via USB you just plug in the supplied cable and away you go. If you want to set it up to work over Wi-Fi and have a WPS-capable router, you just hit the WPS button on the front of the printer and then do the same on your router. They'll then automatically communicate with each other to configure the required setting automatically. Alternatively, if your router doesn't have WPS, you need to connect the printer to your computer via USB first to configure the Wi-Fi settings. When you're ready to print, just fold down a flap at the front that forms the paper in tray and then adjust the the paper stop to the sheet size you're using. At the top, you flip up a cover that reveals the paper out try. Both the paper in and out trays can take up to 150 sheets of A4 paper in one go, which is a pretty good capacity for use in a home office. Proof of the printing The ML-1865 prints almost immediately rather than spending lots of time pre-processing pages. Working over USB it managed to print our 10-page text document in 48 seconds and spewed out 10 pages of our black graphics test document in 44 seconds. It was similarly fast printing our 10-page test presentation, as it completed that task in 45 seconds. Print quality from its 1,200dpi print engine is very impressive too. Text was very dark, solid and crisp, with no stray toner making its way onto the page. And while there was some very slight banding visible on the graphics test document, the overall quality was still very good for a sub-£100 printer. It's a fairly cheap model to run as well. A replacement cartridge is the only consumable you'll need, apart from paper, and a 1,500-page cartridge at the time of this review could be bought for £49 online. With the addition of 0.7p for paper that works out at a running cost of 3.96p per page. Conclusion If you need to save on space in your home office, but don't want to compromise on quality, the ML-1865W is an excellent bet. It delivers good quality printed pages at a respectably rapid pace and is fairly economical to run too.
The Samsung ML-1865W is a very compact printer, but nevertheless it's easy to setup and use, produces good quality printouts at a rapid speed and is also economical to run.

Samsung CLP-300
This affordable color laser printer is small and quiet, but print quality is mixed. Paper handling is also adequate, at best.
The $299 Samsung CLP-300 color laser printer is diminutive in both size and price. At 15.4x13.5x10.4 inches and 30 pounds, this compact model leaves us hard-pressed to dispute Samsung's claim that it's the world's smallest color laser. Also on the small side, though, is its paper capacity: The paper cassette holds only 150 A4 or letter-size sheets. The CLP-300 supports envelopes, 3x5-inch cards, transparencies, labels, and card stock, but only by manually loading individual sheets. The lack of a separate manual feed proves inconvenient?you must remove the paper from the tray first. On the plus side, setup is a snap. Attach the cables, insert the four toner cartridges (each is keyed to prevent improper installation), and install the included drivers for Windows, Mac, or Linux. The CLP-300 connects via USB 2.0; if you need Ethernet connectivity, step up to the $350 CLP-300N. A Stop button and the rear-mounted power switch are the only controls on the printer; the rest of the settings are handled through the print utility. You don't get printed documentation, but the 89-page PDF manual is superb. Print quality is a mixed bag. Black text is dark, sharp, and readable at small sizes, but it appears somewhat heavy and thick. (Color text isn't marred by this heaviness, however, and has the thinner strokes you'd expect.) Color output is typical of a low-end laser printer's?text and line art looks superb, but color photographs are overly vivid, with muted skin tones. The quality is fine for flyers and brochures, but you won't want to print photos for Grandma. The CLP-300 is reasonably fast at black-and-white prints, but it's sluggish with color. Samsung rates the machine at 17 pages per minute (ppm) for black text, but we achieved 14ppm in our tests. Color pages, however, require four passes across the drum, slowing output to 4ppm. The cyan, magenta, and yellow toner cartridges are each rated at 1,000 pages of life and cost about $50 apiece; the $60 black cartridge is rated for 2,000 pages. Of course, if you frequently print full-page color graphics and other toner-intensive sheets, you'll run through toner much more quickly. The $10 waste-toner collector must be replaced after every 1,250 color prints, and the $100 drum cartridge after 12,500 color prints. The consumables work out to a reasonable 3.5 cents per monochrome page (based on 5 percent coverage) but a high 19 cents per color page (assuming 15 percent coverage). Other low-end color lasers can produce color output for as little as 8 cents per page. Samsung backs the printer with a one-year limited warranty, along with 24/7 toll-free support.
